Real nice Sunset at Robert Moses this past weekend.
The forecast for the Northeast is the same as the one for your bathtub. Was bored today and froze my ass off but got some nice shots of an awesome sunset. Lets hope for an increase in temperature and some swell.

Surfrider Central Long Island:Christmas Tree Disposal to Rebuild a Dune
Unfortunately this time of year brings storms and storms bring dune erosion…
And there has been a major breach in the dunes east of Gilgo Beach.
And to make matters worse, 4-wheel drive vehicles have been using this breach as an illegal access point!
Luckily several local community members with the help of Gordon Canary of Owen Johnson’s office and Betty Wittenburger, Robert Moses State Park Manager, are doing something about it.
First large poles will be placed to block the 4WD vehicles.
Second is where the christmas trees come in…
Here’s the plan:
Between Saturday Jan 9th and Sat Jan 16th, drop off your old tree at the northeast corner of the Gilgo parking lot. A truck and crew will come to pick them up and place them where the dune used to be.
The trees will help to trap the wind-blown sand and rebuild the dune.
Thanks for your help in the matter!
Happy New Year!!
Stoked I Was able to grab the cover for ESM’s photo feature “Yuletide Feast” on www.easternsurf.com. Check out the rest of the feature with some shots from other New Yorkers Mike Nelson and JC Beirle. Some real good stuff! Should have the full gallery up from Sunday later tonight.
Got dirty in Jersey this Sunday. Wasn’t easy to get in position for a good one, but if you did it was worth the work. Full gallery should be up midweek. Thanks for checking in and have a Happy New Years!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! Hope everyone enjoys the holidays and finds some time to get in the water up in the Northeast or if you are fortunate enough to get down to the tropics for the North Swells drilling the Caribbean right now. Good Luck in 2010 and lets hope for some more swell. Thanks for checking in with Northeast Sessions this year.

Blizzard 09:FAIL
Got pretty hyped for this little blizzard swell. Looked like it was going to be really good in NY. Nice sized ESE swell with some stiff offshores. I didn’t expect that much snow, but after backing out of my driveway through about 2.5 feet of snow, I knew it would be a little bit of an adventure. After spending a few hours trekking through Western and Central Long Island on the search for some tubes, we came up a bit short, and the most action I got was digging out my truck from a 4 foot drift I didn’t notice, then helping another guy get his truck out from a similar situation across the parking lot. The winds had a bit too much west in it, and it looked like Jersey got the upper hand on this one. Looks like another similar swell next weekend. Keep your fingers crossed. If you did score today and grabbed some pics, shoot me an email at admin@northeastsessions.com and I’ll throw them up on the blog. Have a Merry Christmas! and lets hope for some more waves soon.
